MBS Group Profile

The Al-Sayer family's influential and substantial presence in the commercial and social life of the Kuwait can be traced back to well-over 75 years. But it was only in 1974 that Musaed Bader Al-Sayer, one of the family's members, formed what was to become his own group of companies with the establishment of MBS Printing Press Company in Kuwait. Later in the 70's he added a travel and tourism business - Al Sayer Travels - which today is one of the largest and longest established travel organizations in the country.

In 1980, the Group expanded its printing activities beyond Kuwait with the acquisition of MBS Zabeel Printing Press in Dubai. This soon developed into a very successful operation, which has won several prestigious awards from the printing Industry for the quality of its work, and today, it is arguably one of the most successful presses in Dubai.

In 1991, after the Gulf War, a 'Storage and Materials Handling' division was established with the signing of an exclusive distribution with Dexion agency from Europe. This was followed shortly by the launch of Al-Sayer Graphics in 1992 to deal in heavy-duty printing machinery and consumables for the printing industry.

In 2001, the Group continued its expansion with the formation of MBS Publishing and became, at that time, the publisher of the sole English language monthly magazine titled 'Kuwait this Month'. MBS TV, a DVD production unit engaged in filming and post-production of high-quality corporate videos was established in 2005. This was followed in 2006, with the launching of the first Pan-Arab English language retail magazine called 'Arabian Retailer'.

In 2007, an FMCG Division was added to the Group portfolio with the introduction of a high-end gourmet quality, vegetable crisp products from Glennans of UK. The products were an outright success at five-star hotels and other top-notch eateries with chefs taking an immediate liking to this ready-to-serve snacks that they could easily integrate into their menus.

Since 2005, the Group has embarked on an ambitious plan of rapid expansion across the region, branching out into new divisions while at the same time developing and consolidating current businesses. This was envisaged with the aim of catering to the burgeoning business opportunities in the region arising not only from the current oil boom, but also from the potential for opening of the Iraqi market once security is restored in that country.
